St. Vincent de Paul Chapel
A chapel at the entrance of Vincent de Paul Nagar, which grew from a statue set up when the St. Vincent de Paul Society gave ten houses to families in need.
Photo to come
This chapel stands at the entrance to Vincent de Paul Nagar in Aranattukara, and its story is tied to the charity whose name it carries.
From a statue to a chapel
The St. Vincent de Paul Society built ten houses and gave them to families in need. When the houses were blessed, a statue of St. Vincent de Paul was put up at the entrance to the new settlement. In time the little shrine was rebuilt as a chapel.
A statue of Our Lady of Velankanni is also kept here.
Prayer and the feast
The book records a litany and a novena, and a shared feast meal around the saint’s feast day.
We do not yet know when the houses were built or when the chapel took its present form. If you were part of the project, or live in Vincent de Paul Nagar, we would be glad to hear your memories.
