Nirmala College
A self-financing women's college run by the CMC sisters at the Chungam junction on Anchangadi Road, in the north of Aranattukara.
Photo to come
Nirmala College stands at the Chungam junction on Anchangadi Road, which takes its name from the old Kanjani road toll post, the chunkam. The bus stop there is still called “Nirmala College”. It is in the Aranattukara ward of the Thrissur Corporation, a few minutes’ walk west of St. Ann’s Girls’ High School.
What we know
The book mentions the college in one line, in its note on St. Ann’s. The CMC sisters (the Congregation of the Mother of Carmel) founded St. Ann’s for the girls of northern Aranattukara, and a self-financing women’s college, Nirmala College, now works alongside it. The Nirmalalayam nursery school stands next to the college.
The CMC is one of the congregations that St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara helped to found.
